There are a few MTG veterans (two Hannahs, Mason, Sterling...) in this high school production who would be happy to see you if you showed up for their play. Their last two shows were cancelled because of snow and they had no snow dates until this week, so you're sure to get a good seat!

MTG alumni have been invited to participate in this year's haunted house at the Marshall Community Center. We are all ready planning costumes and scenes.
This year's theme is Haunted Mansion, so we are going Victorian with a creepy, steam punk edge.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to break this news, but after three wonderful years I have decided to retire the theater. Finding out that we had lost our storage space made what had all ready been a tremendously challenging and time consuming unpaid job become beyond managable. Still, I'll never forget all the wonderful kids who acted and learned with us, and all of the wonderful adults who helped.
Improvisation classes will still be held at MCC, as scheduled, but there will be no more MTG productions.
There is some talk of other possible projects. I will post here if I get any good news to share about them.
Thank you, and remember to speak up, be seen, and stay theatrical!

MTG Director Bess Taylor will be teaching theater improvisation classes at the Marshall Community Center this summer. There are two sessions. Join us for one, or both! Acting students from 4th to 9th grade will sharpen their acting skills by playing fun theatrical improvisation games. These games are designed to broaden an actor's experience, inspire teamwork, challenge creativity and encourage on-the-spot thinking. Students should dress comfortably and bring bottled water and a snack.
Location: Marshall Community Center, 4133 Rectortown Rd, Marshall, VA
Monday – Friday
7/22-7/26 | Registration deadline: 7/17
7/29-8/2 | Registration deadline: 7/24

The "Two Roses and a Cat" ensemble have begun rehearsals. Some photos can be seen here. We start each session with a warm-up, then play an improvisation game to get going. Last week we worked on "Snow White and Rose Red", delving into the characters and figuring out how to tell this story to the audience. It is quite fascinating, hearing what these young actors come up with. I can't wait to see what they do with "Puss-in-Boots" next!

The Markham/Marshall Theater Group gratefully acknowledges a $200 donation from our friends at the Leeds Ruritan Club. Many thanks to this fine organization for supporting our efforts to give local families the creative experience of theater. This money will help us pay for materials we need to put on shows, like paint and scenery supplies, costumes, props and office materials. We couldn't do it without the support of our community!
If you or your organization would like to help out, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Bess taylor at (540) 364-4638.

We will still be holding auditions at the Marshall Community Center this Saturday, March 2 from 10-noon, but we just found out that there will be a funeral party using the auditorium that morning.
Instead, we will hold the auditions in the Marshall Community large meeting room. To get there, please use the double doors by the library entrance, and go all the way down the long hall to the last classroom on the left. Parents may be asked to stay out in the hallway or the cafe area, or can go to the library. We are so sorry for the inconvenience.
See the earlier two news blog posts for other details. Hope to see you there.
